Toilets

Running, Leaking or Clogged Toilet?

A toilet that runs on its own usually has a worn flapper or fill valve: a small part, but it wastes a lot of water. Water on the floor around the base often means a failed wax ring, which can quietly damage the subfloor.

  • Flapper, fill valve and flush valve repairs
  • Wax ring and flange repair
  • Toilets that clog often checked for drain problems
  • Replacement with a new, efficient toilet

Faucets & sinks

Leaky Faucets and Sink Plumbing

A dripping faucet usually needs a cartridge, washer or O-ring; a leak under the sink may be a loose trap, a worn supply line or a failing shutoff valve. Old shutoff valves that won’t close are worth replacing while the plumber is there.

  • Faucet repair and replacement
  • P-traps and drain assemblies
  • Braided supply lines and quarter-turn shutoffs
  • Bathtub and shower drains cleared

FAQ

Fixture Questions

Is it worth repairing an old faucet?

Often, if parts are available and the body is sound: a new cartridge or washer is a quick fix. Very old or corroded faucets, or ones without parts, are usually better replaced.

Can I provide my own fixtures?

Usually, yes. Tell us the model when you book so we can check what it needs. Fixtures you supply are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty.

Why does my toilet keep clogging?

A low-flow toilet with a weak flush, something stuck in the trap, or a partial blockage further down the drain or sewer line. If other drains are slow too, the main line is the likely cause.

My garbage disposal hums but doesn’t turn. What now?

Switch it off. It is usually jammed. Many have a hex socket underneath to turn the motor by hand, and a reset button. Never reach into it. If it still won’t run or it leaks, it likely needs repair or replacement.

What should never go down a garbage disposal?

Grease, fibrous scraps like celery, potato peels, coffee grounds, eggshells, bones and pasta or rice in quantity. They jam the disposal or clog the drain beyond it.
